The purpose of that blog post was to check how expensive was using the BACKUP CHECKSUM. I was really surprised myself about the results and informed MSFT also. So far I didn’t get a response why? I would encourage to test this out for yourself.

Its really nice and informative ..But my doubt is I have read in many forums and blogs that checksum is expensive so they are false??

The query itself, when not used as a shortcut, works. My synonyms are schema.object, you are correct it wouldn’t work elsewhere. I did not see how to get the base name is separate COLUMNs though.

The problem was that it did not work in the shortcut for the same parameter. I would appreciate some help in writing an accurate query. I think i’ll ask in the forums.

Can you please try below query by changing keyboard shortcut?:-

SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME = ‘?’

And now you have to select only table-name WITHOUT any quotation, this will get rid of everytime typing quotation before and after table-name.

I am not sure if the query is correct. Your join on INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS and sys.synonyms on table_name = PARSENAME(synonyms.base_object_name, 1) doesn’t return any data for me as my synonyms are going against a different server and the base table doesn’t exist in this server to return in this query.

Try removing the “AND synonyms.name =” and see if you get any data back and let me know how you setup your synonyms.
